Maryville, Tennessee, Maryville College Staff Position Description MARYVILLE COLLEGE STAFF POSITION DESCRIPTION Position Information Position Title: Head Men’s Basketball Coach Department: Athletics Title of Immediate Supervisor: Athletics Director Funded Term / Work Cycle: 12 months; Full-time Expected Daily Work Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; varies Expected Weekly Work Schedule: Monday – Friday; evenings, weekends, and travel required Pay Grade: 10S; Salary will be determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, and demonstrated competencies. Position Summary and Purpose Provides leadership and oversight for the varsity men’s basketball program, including supervision, recruitment, training, and administration of program operations while promoting academic and athletic success, supporting NCAA Division III compliance expectations, and advancing institutional engagement through student-athlete development and program visibility. Education and Experience Education Bachelor’s degree required Master’s degree preferred Experience Three to five years of college coaching experience College head coaching experience preferred Essential Functions Leadership and Collaboration Oversees all aspects of the Men’s Basketball program Supervises assistant coaches and student workers Conducts hiring, training, evaluation, and discipline Collaborates with athletics staff and attends meetings Builds rapport with students, colleagues, and community Manages student-athlete development Oversees practices and competitions Data, Technology, and Compliance Maintains NCAA and conference compliance Prepares reports including statistics and season summaries Coordinates communications with Athletic Communications Maintains accurate records and documentation Stakeholder and Institutional Support Coordinates recruiting with Enrollment Management and Financial Aid Monitors academic progress of student-athletes Engages alumni and program supporters Participates in fundraising initiatives Represents the College at conference and NABC meetings Serves as Game Manager for select events Participates in camps and coaching clinics Operations and Technical Oversight Finalizes competition schedules Oversees issuance and return of equipment Coordinates with Athletic Trainer on injuries and conditioning Supervises and secures facilities Fiscal Oversight Ensures accurate bookkeeping and timely financial reporting Strategic Planning and Sustainability Leads recruiting and retention strategy Advances competitive performance Supports long-term NCAA Division III goals Enhances alumni and institutional engagement Contributes to Athletics visibility and reputation Other Duties Other roles and duties may be assigned as necessary to support institutional goals and promote a positive, respectful learning environment.
