Position Overview

The Assistant Athletic Trainer supports the delivery of sports medicine services to student-athletes under the direction of the Head Athletic Trainer and/or team physician. This role focuses on injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation while ensuring a safe and healthy athletic environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in the prevention, evaluation, and treatment of athletic injuries and illnesses

  • Provide first aid and emergency care during practices, games, and events

  • Design and implement rehabilitation and return-to-play programs for injured athletes

  • Support daily operation of the athletic training room, including treatment schedules and athlete care

  • Maintain accurate medical records, injury reports, and treatment documentation

  • Communicate athlete status and recovery plans with coaches, physicians, and staff

  • Assist with practice and game coverage, including travel as needed

  • Fit and apply protective equipment, braces, and taping techniques

  • Monitor athlete readiness and help guide safe return-to-play decisions

  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness, organization, and inventory of training equipment and supplies
