The Basketball Hall of Fame’s Director of Partnerships works internally and externally to maximize the impact of the Hall of Fame’s growing Marketing Partnership business – driving brand development, positioning and re-positioning high-end one-of-a-kind assets to maximize revenue generation while delivering great results for our partners. The position requires a team player that can work across all Hall of Fame disciplines to build a strong Marketing Partnership portfolio.
Working within a larger department of six professionals, this position will have one direct report that acts as an analyst to provide fulfillment reporting, media and other asset value delivery, and invoicing of sponsorships. In addition, the candidate would work with all colleagues and departments on strategic ideas to help the overall business on an annual basis. This is an in-person role designed for those who thrive in a collaborative, team-based office.
Key Responsibilities
•Prospect Management. Identify and convert new revenue, partnership and/or licensing opportunities for the Hall of Fame. This position will have an annual revenue goal. Revenue opportunities are applicable to any Hall of Fame asset such as Events, Enshrinement, Golf, Museum, Naming Rights and other assets as developed and identified.
•Third Party Management. The Naismith Hall of Fame employs a third party outside marketing firm to assist this position in its efforts. The ideal candidate would be required to keep the firm on task to meet or exceed agreed upon financial goals. The Director of Partnerships would facilitate and manage contractual sponsor obligations for the organization and make sure the Hall of Fame is meeting its obligations to partners.
•Portfolio Management. Primary contact for HOF Sponsors generated internally or externally by third party agency. Maintain accurate information on contracts and billing. Oversee fulfillment and contract deliverables to ensure positive partner response. Review and approve sales deck materials as well as recap documents.
•Event Sponsorship Management. Lead the Hall of Fame’s efforts on annual Hall of Fame Enshrinement Weekend Sponsorship and Advertising Sales. Lead the Hall of Fame’s annual effort on golf event sales for the Jerry Colangelo Classic including activation and billing while also assisting on Event Operations (as needed/requested).
•Branding and Content. Coordinate with the Vice President of Marketing complimentary communications and branding initiatives for partners including thematic identities around Hall of Fame tent pole events such as Enshrinement and Hoophall Classic. Work with the Hall of Fame’s PR and social media agency on content creation, partnership fulfillment and expansion of potential revenue.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
•Three to five years of professional sponsorship or relationship-management experience.
•Demonstrated ability to manage portfolios and successfully close new sponsorships.
•Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster meaningful partner relationships.
•Highly motivated to secure support both in person and virtually.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills across email, phone, and in-person interactions.
•Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
•High degree of integrity, initiative, creativity, and follow-through.
•Passion for the mission of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and commitment to its core values.
•Ability to travel as needed for partner meetings and events.
