Job Description

Santa Cruz, California, Under the direction of the Director of Athletics & Recreation and the mentorship of the Associate Director of Athletics and Recreation for Compliance, Student-Athlete Services, and Internal Operations, this position will assist with student-athlete services, internal operations, and compliance in order to gain valuable experience in the Athletics & Recreation industry. JOB DUTIES 40% - Student Athlete Services Serves as liaison for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Directs, organizes, and supervises all student-athlete welfare activities including but not limited to: leadership development, career development, student athlete development, and health & wellness education. Oversees organizational implementation of departmental community services initiatives. Coordinates student-athlete orientation programming for all incoming teams. Assists with development and implementation of a 4-year student athlete development curriculum. 30% - Internal Operations Assists with hosting all C2C Conference Tournaments hosted by UC Santa Cruz from 2025-2027 (Cross Country, Women's Volleyball, Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball). Assists with planning and execution of campus-wide events co-sponsored by Athletics and Recreation. Manages Student-Athlete focused budgets including SAAC and Game Day Promotions. 20% - Compliance Oversees rules education sessions and materials, and annual rules test. Oversees student-athlete compliance and Title IX education. Assists with all NCAA, C2C, and UC Santa Cruz compliance matters and rules application. 10% - Other Duties Supports special projects and initiatives as directed by the Athletics and Recreation Department's leadership. Drives university and non-university vehicles to execute game day activities and attend professional development programs. Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. Working knowledge of program activity and best practices. Effective listening skills. Problem-solving skills. Ability to multi-task. Ability to complete tasks with accuracy despite frequent interruptions. Effective verbal communication skills in the English language. Effective written communication skills in the English language. Proficiency in the use of basic computer applications relevant to job duties. $3,000 towards professional development, including the NCAA Convention and Emerging Leaders
