Assistant Coach | Job Description 2025-2026

Fort Bend Christian Academy is seeking an Assistant Coach who views athletics as a vital ministry. We believe sports offer a unique opportunity to glorify God and enjoy Him by discipling players, striving for excellence in competition, loving our neighbors through sportsmanship, and sending our student-athletes out as servant leaders into the world.

Job Title/Duties

  • Job Title: Assistant Coach

  • Reports to: Assigned Campus Principal and Head Coach

Qualifications

  • Mission Alignment: Will be in 100% agreement with Fort Bend Christian Academy’s purpose and mission, Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality, and the school's Doctrinal Statement.

  • Spiritual Maturity: Shall be one who follows Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and can articulate the Gospel and their testimony in any situation.

  • Church Involvement: Has a strong history of active participation in a church with doctrine and beliefs aligned with the school’s statements.

  • Discipleship Mindset: Will provide examples of using their specific sport to disciple young people and point them toward Christ (Proverbs 22:6).

  • Experience: Has proven success and technical knowledge in their sport at the varsity, sub-varsity, or middle school level.

  • Education: Shall be a college graduate (preferred) passionate about the school’s mission and good stewardship of their gifts and talents.

Job Duties

A. Spiritual Leadership

  • Gospel Integration: Systematically create opportunities to share the Gospel and grow disciples through practices and games (Matthew 4:19).

  • Excellence for God: Coach in a way that gives glory to God, maintaining high standards of effort and attitude (Colossians 3:23).

  • Role Modeling: Serve as a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions both on and off the field/court.

  • Community Impact: Create opportunities to use the sport as a vehicle to love our neighbors and serve the community (Mark 12:31).

B. Coaching Responsibilities

  • Discipleship Execution: Support the Head Coach’s systematic plan for using the game to disciple athletes daily.

  • Program Support: Assist in the oversight of the program, including promotion, practice execution, and maintaining student eligibility.

  • Equipment Management: Assist in the cleaning, repair, and secure storage of team equipment and uniforms.

  • Compliance: Ensure personal and team compliance with all TAPPS regulations and school policies.

  • Seasonal Participation: Assist with preseason, in-season, postseason, and offseason plans, including participation in summer camps as required.

  • Administrative Assistance: Assist the Head Coach with administrative tasks, such as tracking statistics, managing travel logistics, or coordinating sub-varsity game needs.

Physical Requirements

  • Environment: Ability to sit and stand for extended periods in both indoor and outdoor environments (subject to weather conditions).

  • Physicality: Ability to bend, stoop, walk, and frequently lift/move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

Note: This is an exempt assignment. Specific hours and months of service are determined by the athletic season and the requirements of the specific sports program.
