Head Football Coach/ Campus Athletic Coordinator
Coordinate and manage the overall athletic program for the campus. Provide all students with the opportunity to participate in extracurricular athletics while ensuring full compliance with all state, district, and University Interscholastic League (UIL) requirements.
Facilitate student growth through athletic participation by supporting the development of intellectual, emotional, physical, and social skills necessary for success in school and society.
Education/Certification
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Master’s degree preferred
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements for assigned subject and grade level
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years coaching experience
- Minimum of 3 years as a head coach or coordinator preferred
- Experience managing athletic budgets and programs preferred
Special Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of athletic program operations and facility management
- Knowledge of Texas Education Agency (TEA) and UIL policies and procedures
- Strong instructional and classroom management skills
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a site-based decision-making environment
Program Leadership
- Coordinate and supervise all campus and feeder-pattern athletic programs
- Develop and maintain a program that promotes sportsmanship, character, and student development
- Conduct regular head coaches meetings and oversee program evaluations and improvement plans
- Ensure all sports programs complete at least one community service project annually
Compliance and Administration
- Ensure compliance with all UIL, district, and state rules and regulations
- Verify and monitor student academic and physical eligibility for athletic participation
- Maintain all required reports, documentation, and records
- Oversee summer camp compliance with district and UIL guidelines
Staff Supervision and Development
- Supervise assistant coaches and athletic support staff
- Conduct and document head coach evaluations and provide recommendations for improvement
- Coordinate professional development opportunities for high school and middle school coaches
- Work collaboratively with middle school administrators to evaluate middle school coordinators
Instructional Responsibilities
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum requirements
- Provide instruction that promotes student growth in physical fitness, teamwork, and leadership
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress and achievement
Program Coordination and Operations
- Coordinate practice schedules, competitions, travel, and equipment in collaboration with the District Athletic Director
- Serve as administrator on duty or supervise events as assigned
- Supervise student-athletes during practices, contests, and out-of-town travel
- Assist with equipment selection and inventory management
Vertical Alignment
- Collaborate with middle school principals and coaches to ensure vertical alignment in:
- Football
- Basketball
- Volleyball
- Track
- Monitor and support implementation of aligned systems and coaching expectations
Community and Public Relations
- Maintain positive communication with parents, community members, and media outlets
- Work closely with the Booster Club to ensure financial transparency and support of program needs
- Promote athletic programs and student-athletes in a positive and professional manner
Student Management
- Enforce student discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct
- Educate and advise student-athletes on NCAA academic and recruiting requirements
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of assistant coaches within assigned sports
- Oversight of feeder program coordination
- Supervision of assigned athletic aides
