Asst Softball Coach

Tyler Independent School District is seeking a dedicated and energetic Assistant Softball Coach to join the athletic program at Tyler Legacy High School. This individual will assist in building a competitive softball program while supporting the academic and personal development of student-athletes. The teaching assignment will be based on district needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist the Head Softball Coach in all aspects of the program (7th–12th grade alignment preferred)
• Help plan, organize, and conduct practices, games, and offseason programs
• Support strength and conditioning initiatives in coordination with athletic staff
• Promote athlete development, sportsmanship, and UIL compliance
• Assist with scouting, film breakdown, and game preparation
• Maintain positive relationships with athletes, parents, staff, and community
• Monitor academic progress of student-athletes and support “Successful Student Outcomes”

Qualifications:

• Valid Texas Teaching Certificate (or ability to obtain)
• Must have or be willing to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
• Coaching experience preferred (softball/baseball background strongly encouraged)
• Knowledge of University Interscholastic League rules and regulations
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a total athletic program

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working within a feeder system (middle school to high school alignment)
• Background in strength and conditioning or skill development
• Commitment to year-round program development

Compensation:

• Salary based on Tyler Independent School District Teacher Pay Scale
• Coaching stipends included per district guidelines
