Galena Park High School is seeking a dynamic, high-character leader to serve as the Head Boys’ Basketball Coach, overseeing and developing the entire boys’ basketball program from 7th grade through 12th grade. This position requires a coach who is passionate about building a competitive program, developing student-athletes on and off the court, and creating strong alignment across all levels.
The selected candidate will also serve as a Special Education Teacher, with potential opportunities for other teaching assignments as they become available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all aspects of the boys’ basketball program (7th–12th grade)
- Establish and implement a clear program philosophy, culture, and development system
- Coordinate and mentor middle school and high school coaching staff
- Design and oversee off-season, in-season, and summer programs
- Promote academic success, character development, and accountability
- Organize practices, game planning, and film breakdown
- Maintain strong communication with players, parents, staff, and administration
- Ensure compliance with UIL and district policies
Teaching Assignment:
- Current opening: Special Education
- Additional teaching fields may become available based on campus needs
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive teacher salary based on years of experience
- $8,000 Head Boys’ Basketball Coaching Stipend
- Additional 15 days of extended contract for basketball duties

Qualifications:
- Valid Texas Teaching Certification
- Special Education certification
- Head Coaching Coaching experience Preferred
- Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
- Commitment to developing student-athletes academically and athletically
