Head Girls Basketball Coach

Job Description

Morton Independent School District is seeking a passionate, driven, and relationship-centered Head Girls Basketball Coach to lead and grow our program in grades 7–12 starting in the 2026-27 school year.

Morton is a basketball community with a proud and storied tradition, including 7 State Basketball Championships and 1 Girls Basketball State Title. * Position Overview

  • Head Coach for Girls Basketball (Grades 7–12)

  • Oversee vertical alignment and program development from JH through Varsity

  • Build relationships with athletes, parents, and the community

  • Develop off-season programming and skill development systems

* Additional Coaching Responsibilities 

Coaches will also have:

  • Fall Assignment: Cross Country or Football (Basketball development prioritized)

  • Spring Assignment: Tennis, Golf, Softball, or Track (based on candidate strengths and campus needs)

  • CDL required (or willingness to obtain within one year)

* Teaching Assignment

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate required

  • Teaching field is open to best fit the right candidate (no PE currently assigned)

  • Master Teacher: $28,975

  • Exemplary Teacher: $16,185

  • Recognized Teacher: $8,092

Teachers with an approved designation on their current certificate receive 90% of the TEA-approved allotment amount.
