Position:     Head Girls’ Basketball Coach

Reports to: Head of Athletics

 

Role and Purpose:

The Head Girls’ Basketball Coach possesses excellent teaching skills and demonstrates passion for leading and motivating student-athletes. Serving as Head Coach for the girls’ basketball program includes possessing excellent knowledge of the game, successful leadership, promoting positive community and contributing to the successful student-athlete experience. The Head Coach understands the difference between building a team and building a program, and can set high expectations while also demonstrating how to achieve them.


This position may be hired as a part‑time coaching role or combined with one of our current teaching openings for a full‑time opportunity.

 Responsibilities:

  • Enthusiastically motivate and develop talented and well-rounded student-athletes

  • Teach players the rules and regulations, and improve the many skills required of them to be successful competitors 

  • Develop, promote and execute a successful girls basketball program including the coordination of highly effective practices

  • Articulate, set and hold student-athletes to high expectations

  • Communicate proactively and effectively with parents, players, coaching staff, game officials and administrators

  • Oversee the development of practice schedules

  • Coordinate game schedules in collaboration with the athletic director 

  • Maintain and update inventory of equipment, supplies, uniforms, practice gear, apparel, and additional items 

A Qualified Candidate Will Possess:

  • Previous coaching experience at the high school level or above is required

Other Job Functions:

  • Attend all required meetings, complete all required training and perform assigned duties.

  • Take all reasonably necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities 

Physical Demands and Environment Factors:

  • Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing  

  • Maintain emotional control under stress 

  • Setting up for a wide variety of events and activities will require extended time standing as well as lifting and carrying heavy items and equipment (General weight requirements will fall 40 pounds or less, but on occasion, may be more)
