Job Description

Montgomery, Alabama, Overview: The Graduate Assistant for External Operations position is designed to provide administrative experience within a NCAA Division II athletics department. Experience will be gained in areas of external affairs, promotions, concessions, game day management, event planning and event running. Responsibilities: Support the Associate AD of External Affairs in the daily operations of marketing, promotions, game operations, concessions, ticketing, and/or other duties Provide support on game day to execute duties to be compliant with expectations for a well-managed event that also adheres to NCAA rules, including ticket sales, concessions management, live streaming, video replay, scoreboard, and other necessary game day roles Oversee and manage assigned area(s) of AUM Athletics Game Day in assigned areas Serve as a game day lead for team sport home events and game day administrator for home tennis matches Assist with any game day operations tasks including set-up and breakdown of the facilities for competitions and other events Assist in keeping facilities clean and properly maintained Plan and execute Game Day Promotions, fan engagement initiatives, marketing initiatives, on-campus engagement, and community outreach efforts, including both department-wide and sport-specific campaigns. Help deliver an exciting, engaging, and first-class game-day atmosphere and experience for fans, students, and community members by developing fan-experience strategies in collaboration with the External and Athletics Communications units. Execute grassroots marketing, distribute promotional materials, coordinate campus visibility efforts, and represent AUM Athletics at campus and community events as needed. Help develop AUM Athletics ’ digital brand strategy designed to increase fan engagement through collaboration with the External Operations and Athletic Communications office for content creation, website updates, social media, promotional graphics, flyers, schedule cards, and digital signage. Coordinate mobile app communications, email marketing, and digital campaigns for AUM Athletics. Manage promotional inventory, signage, and event materials, while assisting with the execution of athletic events, special projects and sponsor activations. Assist with data collection and reporting to evaluate campaign effectiveness and fan engagement metrics. Assist in developing aligned brand strategies that support campaigns and on-site execution for theme nights, giveaways, recognitions, in-game entertainment, and specific events such as Homecoming, Hoops Madness, Education Day, community nights, school reading programs, alumni events and Hall of Fame. Assist in hiring, training and scheduling of student workers within your assigned areas for all athletic department hosted events Submit all required compliance and university-required documentation following set deadlines Participate in all community outreach projects and team functions Annually complete the NCAA DII Coaches Certification Attend monthly department and compliance ed meetings and weekly administration-related meetings Participate in department and university hosted or supported professional development opportunities Maintain valid CPR/AED and First Aid Certification Minimum Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution Acceptance into AUM graduate program Represent the University and Athletic Department with integrity at all times Valid driver's license Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
