About the Academy
Trailborn Athletics LLC is a dedicated youth wrestling and athletic training academy serving Central Texas, located in Salado along the I-35 corridor between Austin and Waco. Our mission is to develop young wrestlers and grow the sport across the state through high-quality coaching, structured skill progression, and a strong, supportive competitive culture. We train across folkstyle, freestyle, and Greco-Roman disciplines and run a complementary youth strength and agility program that builds athleticism and feeds long-term wrestling development. We are building this program from the ground up and looking for a coach who wants to help shape it.
Position Summary
The Head Wrestling Coach leads the day-to-day operation of our wrestling program: planning and running practices, developing athletes across all ages and skill levels, building the competitive season, and creating a positive environment that keeps wrestlers engaged and improving. This is a full-time, hands-on leadership role suited to someone who is passionate about youth development and excited to build something lasting in a growing market.
Key Responsibilities
•Plan, organize, and lead daily wrestling practices for youth athletes across A/B team tiers and multiple skill levels.
•Teach sound technique and progressions in folkstyle, freestyle, and Greco-Roman wrestling.
•Develop and manage the competitive schedule, including practice planning around the UIL season (November–February) and offseason freestyle/Greco.
•Track athlete progress, set development goals, and communicate clearly with athletes and parents.
•Support and help grow the youth strength and agility program as a feeder into wrestling.
•Maintain a safe training environment, including injury prevention, proper supervision, and adherence to SafeSport and two-deep leadership protocols.
•Contribute to recruiting, retention, and community-building efforts that grow enrollment.
•Represent the academy professionally at meets, camps, and community events.
Qualifications
Required
•Competitive wrestling experience at high school, collegiate, or club level.
•Prior coaching experience and a demonstrated ability to teach technique to youth athletes.
•Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
•Ability to pass a background check and complete SafeSport certification.
•Current (or willingness to obtain) CPR/First Aid certification.
Preferred
•Collegiate wrestling experience or a coaching record of developing competitive youth athletes.
•USA Wrestling coaching credentials or equivalent.
•Experience building or growing a youth program.
•Familiarity with strength and agility training for young athletes.
Compensation & Benefits
•Competitive full-time salary in the $50,000–$70,000 range, commensurate with experience.
