Position: Defensive Assistant Football Coach / Physical Education Teacher
Location: Humble High School, Humble, Texas
Reports To: Head Football Coach and Campus Principal
Contract: Teacher Contract (PE Content Area) + Coaching Stipend

Position Summary

Humble High School is seeking a highly motivated, relationship-driven educator to serve as a Defensive Assistant Football Coach and Physical Education Teacher. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the field while contributing to a championship culture built on accountability, discipline, and academic excellence.

The ideal candidate will have experience coaching defensive football at the high school level, possess strong character and leadership skills, and be committed to fostering positive relationships with students, parents, faculty, and the community.

Primary Coaching Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and implementing all aspects of the football program.
  • Coach a defensive position group and contribute to defensive game planning.
  • Analyze game and practice film to improve player performance.
  • Develop athletes through offseason strength and conditioning programs.
  • Assist with practice organization, player development, and equipment management.
  • Promote character development, discipline, and sportsmanship.
  • Support middle school feeder programs and assist with program-wide continuity.
  • Participate in recruiting, retention, and mentoring efforts for student-athletes.
  • Attend all required athletic department meetings, camps, and events.

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Teach Physical Education courses in accordance with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
  • Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with campus staff to support student achievement and well-being.
  • Fulfill all district and campus expectations related to instruction, supervision, and professional responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Texas Teacher Certification in Physical Education or ability to obtain certification.
  • Experience coaching high school football, preferably on the defensive side of the ball.
  • Knowledge of modern defensive schemes and player development strategies.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to academic success and character development.
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative coaching staff.
