Job Description
Position: Head Boys Basketball Coach
Assignment: Full-time teaching position (core content area) + head varsity boys basketball coach.
Additional coaching responsibilities, other sport(s) included.
About the Program
New Home boys basketball is a winning, well-established program: three trips to the state semifinals and a regional finals appearance the past four seasons. We seek a proven leader who will elevate and sustain excellence on and off the court while developing student-athletes academically, athletically, and personally.
Responsibilities
• Lead, manage, and develop the boys basketball program: practice planning, game strategy, player development, and scouting.
• Supervise assistant coaches, coordinate schedules, and oversee program budget and equipment.
• Promote academic success, sportsmanship, and community engagement for student-athletes.
• Teach a core academic subject assigned by the district; maintain classroom expectations and grading.
• Comply with UIL, district, and campus policies; ensure athlete eligibility, safety, and proper risk management.
• Coach additional sport(s) as assigned.
Required Qualifications
• Valid Texas teaching certificate.
• Experience coaching high school basketball (preferably head or high-level assistant experience).
• Demonstrated ability to lead a successful program and develop players/assistants.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to academic achievement and character development of student-athletes.
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous success at playoff/state-competitive level.
• Positive references from athletic administrators and coaching colleagues.
• CDL or willing to obtain.
Compensation
• Competitive salary commensurate with experience; teacher salary per district pay scale. Coaching stipends provided per district schedule.
