Middle School History Teacher / US Football & Soccer Coach

Academic Year: 2025-2026

Overview

Fort Bend Christian Academy is seeking a Middle School History Teacher who will also serve as a Coach for Upper School Football and Soccer. We are looking for a leader who sees athletics as an opportunity to glorify God and enjoy Him by discipling players off the field, striving for excellence on the field, loving our neighbors through the field, and sending our players out as disciple-makers into the world.

  • Job Title: MS History Teacher / US Football Coach / US Soccer Coach

  • Status: Teacher or Stipend Coach (Full-Time Exempt)

  • Reports to: Head of School, US Principal, and Athletic Director

Qualifications

  • Spiritual Alignment: 100% agreement with FBCA’s purpose, mission, Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality, and Doctrinal Statement.

  • Faith Witness: A follower of Jesus Christ who can clearly articulate the Gospel and their personal testimony.

  • Church Involvement: Active participation or membership in a church with beliefs aligned with the school’s statements; ability to provide multiple references verifying this.

  • Discipleship Track Record: Ability to provide examples of systematically using sports to disciple young people and pointing to former players who are now doing the same (Proverbs 22:6).

  • Experience: Proven success as an Assistant Coach or Position Coach at the Varsity level (Private School or UIL 3A and above preferred). Must demonstrate the ability to lead a specific unit or position group while supporting the Head Coach’s overall program vision.

  • Education: College graduate passionate about Christian education and stewardship of their gifts and talents.

Job Duties

A. Spiritual Leadership

  • Systematically create opportunities to share the Gospel and grow disciples through the games of football and soccer (Matthew 4:19).

  • Lead students to realize their self-worth in Christ (Psalm 62:1-2).

  • Coach in a way that gives glory to God through competition (Colossians 3:23).

  • Serve as a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions (1 Corinthians 11:1).

  • Model the importance of Scripture study, prayer, witnessing, and unity (Psalm 119:11).

  • Use athletics as a vehicle to love our neighbors (Mark 12:31).

  • Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, staff, and administration.

B. Coaching Responsibilities: Football & Soccer

  • Discipleship: Set up a systematic plan for using both sports to disciple athletes daily.

  • Program Oversight: Oversee (or assist with, as designated) the Upper School and Middle School programs, including the promotion and recruitment of student-athletes.

  • Operations: Develop practice/game schedules and ensure strict compliance with all TAPPS regulations.

  • Logistics: Monitor student eligibility and oversee the care, repair, and secure storage of equipment and uniforms for both seasons.

  • Player Development: Implement preseason, in-season, postseason, and offseason plans, including the organization of summer camps.

  • Administration: Assist with administrative duties such as securing officials, scheduling sub-varsity games, and coordinating travel.

C. Academic Responsibilities: MS History Teacher

  • Maintain a high-quality learning environment in the Middle School History classroom.

  • Develop lesson plans that integrate a Biblical worldview with historical curriculum.

  • Maintain regularly scheduled hours and attend all faculty/departmental meetings.

D. General & Professional Responsibilities

  • Policies: Cooperate with administration in implementing all school policies and procedures (Romans 13).

  • Communication: Keep stakeholders (parents, students, and AD) adequately informed of progress or deficiencies (Matthew 5:37).

  • Growth: Attend devotions, in-service retreats, and professional development. Maintain First Aid and CPR certifications.

  • Public Relations: Recognize the need for good public relations and make an effort to understand the uniqueness of the FBCA community.

Physical Requirements & Employment Details

  • Ability to sit/stand for extended periods, frequently in an outdoor environment.

  • Ability to bend, walk, and lift/move athletic equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

  • Assignment: This is an exempt, twelve-month, full-time assignment.

  • Schedule: Regularly requires work during evenings and weekends for games, meets, and events.
