Title: Head Volleyball Coach – McCamey ISD

District: McCamey ISD – UIL 2A
Location: McCamey, Texas (45 minutes south of Odessa, 45 minutes east of Fort Stockton)
Position Type: Full-Time – Head Volleyball Coach

Teaching Field- Open 

Primary Purpose
Lead and develop a competitive, student-centered volleyball program that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, academic success, and multi-sport participation. The Head Volleyball Coach will oversee all aspects of the program, including junior high and high school, and collaborate closely with the Athletic Director/Head Football Coach and campus administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and vision for the volleyball program (JH through Varsity).

  • Plan and conduct organized, high‑rep, game‑like practices that emphasize fundamentals and competitive excellence.

  • Develop and maintain a vertically aligned program, including youth/JH development and offseason training.

  • Oversee and mentor assistant coaches; ensure consistent teaching, culture, and expectations at all levels.

  • Support and encourage multi-sport participation; collaborate with other sport coaches on scheduling and strength & conditioning.

  • Promote academic accountability, character development, and community involvement.

  • Communicate clearly with athletes, parents, staff, and administration regarding expectations and program standards.

  • Ensure compliance with all UIL, district, and campus policies.

Qualifications

  • Valid Texas teaching certification or currently enrolled in an alternative certification program.

  • Successful volleyball coaching experience (head coaching or high-level assistant preferred).

  • Demonstrated ability to build program culture and develop athletes at multiple levels.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

  • Willingness to work the hours and travel demands of a small Texas ISD.

  • CDL or willingness to obtain.
