Head Football Coach
Under the general supervision of the Athletic Director, the Head Football Coach instructs student-athletes in the fundamentals of football, preparing them for competition. The head coach supervises and coordinates all levels of football and is responsible for coordinating and engaging all administrative, financial, and personnel aspects of the program.The Head Football Coach will ensure the promotion and accountability of a Christ-centered climate that is in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of CLHS. In addition to the role of Head Football coach, the position will assist in the execution of the institution’s strategic plan through a defined out of season role that is aligned with the candidate’s skillset and administrative needs.
REPORTS TO: Athletic Director
SUPERVISES: Assistant Football Coaches
● Administer and oversee all levels and functions of the football program
● Develop and maintain a high-quality Christ-centered program founded on sound principles of football, strong team culture and values, hard work, commitment, loyalty, honesty, respect, and sportsmanship
● Instruct individuals and teams in sports rules, game strategies, and performance principles using lectures, discussions, and demonstrations. Adapts methods based on varying student needs
● Provide training, direction, encouragement, and motivation to prepare athletes for competition
● Establish, explain, monitor, and enforce safety rules and regulations, proper use of equipment
● Plan, lead, organize, and conduct practice sessions
● Keep abreast of changing rules, techniques, technologies, and philosophies relevant to the sport
● Develop off-season training programs and summer opportunities, including pre-high school youth offerings
● Establish the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques to be taught by the staff and
● Carry out supervisory responsibilities per school policies and applicable laws. Duties include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, coaching, rewarding, and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
● Work with performance coaches to plan and direct physical conditioning programs
● Partner with athletic training staff in effective alignment, communication, and support layers
● Engage awareness of athletic and occupational hazards / safety precautions. Administers first aid and contacts EMS when appropriate. Promptly reports all injuries
● Oversee budgeting, purchasing, and expenditures; maintain and keep an inventory of all equipment
● Coordinate fundraising activities with the Advancement Office
● Organize the annual end-of-season recognition event(s)
● Assist in the development of sports schedules, facility usage, and coordination of transportation needs
● Recommend policy, method, or procedural changes to the Athletic Director
● Seek student collegiate recruitment and scholarship opportunities through active external engagement
● Assure proper supervision of students. Monitor student conduct and performance eligibility; establish rules for behavior; work with Athletic Director, administration, and staff to resolve academic and behavioral issues
● Evaluate an athlete's skills and performance to determine fitness, potential, placement, and grading
● Attend department and team meetings and required school functions
● Ensures proactive communication, assistance, and appropriate positive interactions with stakeholders, parents, and students through the processing of inquiry, concerns, and opportunities for education.
● Engage prospective families, partner schools, and community groups in coordination with the Admissions office through appropriate outreach procedures
● Provide regular communication to school administration, students, parents, and the community
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT ROLE
● Assist in the execution of the Concordia’s strategic plan through a defined out of season role that is aligned with the candidate’s skillset and the institution’s administrative needs. (separate position related description to be articulated, outlined, and mutually agreed upon at the time of hire).
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
● Maintain regular office hours and communicate with supervisor when the role is occurring off campus
● Attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional growth activities
● Monitors community demographics, resources, and emerging trends
● Build healthy relationships with all members of the CLHS community (students, faculty/ staff, parents, external constituents) by maintaining high visibility and high engagement with students, faculty and staff, and parents, on campus at campus events, and at off campus school events and activities
● Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or administrator
QUALIFICATIONS

● Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Experience
● At least three years of high school head coaching experience preferred
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, AND CLEARANCES
● Valid Fingerprint, CPR, TB, and First Aid Certifications
● Valid Texas Driver’s License
● Applicable TAPPS Certifications (school provided)
