Job Description

Seeking qualified and experienced Pickleball Professionals to lead and enhance our 55 and older community’s pickleball program. This role is central to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and well-organized recreational experience through instruction, clinics, league management, and social coordination.

1. Collaboration

The selected candidate will work closely with our Tennis Professional and HOA leadership to expand recreational offerings and strengthen community engagement.

2. Scope of Services

The Pickleball Professional will be responsible for the following core areas:

A. Instruction & Training

* Provide discounted private and group lessons for players of all skill levels. (Please include a proposed fee structure.)

  • Develop and deliver structured training programs for beginner, intermediate, and advanced players.
  • Offer skill-building clinics on a regular basis (monthly or quarterly).
  • Create instructional materials or guides as needed.

B. League Management

  • Organize and manage seasonal pickleball leagues (e.g., fall, winter, spring).
  • Oversee team registration, scheduling, and match coordination.
  • Evaluate all competitive league participants for appropriate team placement in coordination with the revised placement committee.
  • Maintain accurate records of league standings and player participation.

· Attend home matches to observe and advise (if permitted).

  • (Attend at least one away match per league season.)?

C. Community Engagement & Coordination

  • Collaborate with the HOA Tennis Pro to plan joint social events, mixers, and tournaments.
  • Coordinate with social committee pickleball-related social activities such as round robins, themed events, charity matches, and inter-community events.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Pickleball Board, residents, and participants.
  • Promote inclusivity and sportsmanship across all programming.

D. Program Development & Oversight

  • Advise on court usage, maintenance needs, and equipment recommendations.
  • Assist with drying and/or cleaning courts of debris when needed, beyond regular maintenance schedules.

E. Help develop long-term programming goals and community outreach strategies.

  • Provide feedback and reporting to the Pickleball Board on program performance and resident satisfaction.

3. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Certification from a recognized pickleball organization (e.g., PPR, IPTPA).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching and managing pickleball programs.
  • Proven ability to lead clinics, manage leagues, and coordinate community events.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience working with HOA communities or similar residential settings (preferred).

4. Insurance & Compliance

The selected candidate must provide proof of current professional liability insurance with a minimum coverage of $1,000,000.

5. Working Hours

Anticipated hours are 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Monday through Saturday.

6. Meetings

The Pickleball Professional will be expected to attend the following meetings:

  • Saturday morning Pickleball Board of Directors meetings (as needed)
  • Semi-annual evening Pickleball general membership meetings (required)
  • HOA Board meetings (if requested)
  • Event planning meetings (as needed)

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service skills, friendly, outgoing, and positive attitude
  • Thorough knowledge of the game of pickleball and possesses effective teaching styles and techniques
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organization skills
  • Comfortable working with all age groups and building positive relationships with members and team members
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, climb and lift up to 50 pounds

Education:

  • HS Graduate or Equivalent

Years of Experience:

  • 1-2 Years

Licenses / Certifications / Registrations:

  • International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association (IPTPA) and/or Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR)

Preferred:

  • CPR and AED Certified

Job Type: Contract

Pay: Up to $45,000.00 per year
