Located 15 miles northwest of Fort Worth, the community of Azle and Azle ISD truly embody all of the special characteristics and rich traditions that can only be found in a one high school town. Our school district is comprised of 1 high school, 2 junior highs, and 8 elementary schools. Azle High School is classified as a 5A Division 1 high school that just turned in an enrollment of 2,177 students at the October snapshot. We are currently taking applications for the position of Campus Athletic Coordinator & Head Football Coach at Azle High School. Azle ISD understands the importance of athletics and the powerful platform that coaches have to positively impact our students. A.   Reports To: Director of Athletics & Campus Principal

B.   Qualifications:

  • Experience:
  • 10 years successful teaching and coaching experience
  • Head Coaching experience or 3A or higher coordinator experience required
  • Education/Certifications:
  •  Bachelor's degree
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate
  • Current first aid (CPR), and automated external defibrillator (AED) certificate
  • Clear and valid Texas commercial driver's license
  • Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Knowledge of overall operations of an athletic program
  • Knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and UIL policies governing athletics
  • Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes
  • Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug tests and annual physical
  • Ability to implement policy and procedures
  • Ability to interpret data
  • Ability to manage budget and personnel
  • Excellent public relations, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, parents, and staff

C.  General: The High School Campus Athletic Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing all duties specific to this position in addition to duties assigned by the AD.  The AD reserves the ability to adjust or change any and all decisions made by the Campus Athletic Coordinator.

D.  Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and administer the Campus High School Athletic Program in accordance with AZLE ISD and U.I.L. athletic objectives and policies.
  • Managing campus athletic budget. All High School athletic purchases must be routed to and approved by the AD.
  • Make all High School coaching assignments with approval of the AD.
  • Coordinate all campus level athletic schedules with approval of the AD.
  • Maintain a complete and accurate high school athletic equipment inventory.
  • Submit any and all necessary requests as per AZLE ISD Athletic Administration.
  • Monitor Junior High School implementation of 7th-12th Alignment philosophies, schemes, strategies, techniques, skills, offenses and defenses as stressed by the High School Head Coach.
  • Manage any and all campus-based Booster Clubs following all UIL/AZLE ISD Policies.
  • Assist the AD in the hiring of campus athletic personnel by following the hiring matrix, interview candidates for campus athletic positions and make recommendations to the Principal/ AD.
  • Assist the AD with the supervision and evaluation of the performance of all campus-based programs and coaches.
  • Possess and demonstrate the ability of effective communication with students, staff, faculty and community at all times.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of all U.I.L. rules and regulations.
  • Assist the AD to ensure that all phases of U.I.L. compliance are adequately addressed each year with athletes, staff, parents, faculty and community.
  • Assist all other coaches in the planning and management of their programs as needed.
  • Assist in the evaluation of coaches as instructed by the AD
  • Coordinate and schedule all necessary event supervisors and game support staff for all campus- based athletic activities.
  • Attend and encourage attendance at professional workshops and conventions.
  • Attend home and/or away contests of other sports as requested by the AD.
  • Encourage membership in professional organizations.
  • Encourage each campus athletic program to maintain discipline.
  • Encourage each campus athletic program to carry out the AZLE ISD Athletic Character curriculum.
  • Exhibit professional appearance through good grooming habits and appropriate attire at school, practices and games.
  • Manage the campus athletic facilities through the AD.
  • Exhibit the utmost loyalty to the Campus, AZLE ISD, and the Athletic Department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
