Volleyball First Assistant/9th Basketball

Job Description

Job Summary:

The Assistant Volleyball Coach is responsible for supporting the head coach in all aspects of the high school volleyball program. This includes instruction, player development, practice planning, game strategy, and fostering a positive team culture. The assistant coach plays a key role in helping student-athletes grow both on and off the court.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and conducting practices, drills, and workouts.

  • Provide technical instruction to student-athletes in volleyball skills and game strategy.

  • Support in-game coaching decisions, substitutions, and adjustments.

  • Help evaluate athlete performance and contribute to player development plans.

  • Promote a positive, respectful, and disciplined team environment.

  • Monitor academic performance and character development of athletes.

  • Assist with logistics such as travel planning, equipment management, and fundraising.

  • Attend all practices, games, team meetings, and coaching clinics as required.

  • Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes, upholding the values of Humble High School. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior coaching or playing experience in competitive volleyball (high school or higher).

  • Strong knowledge of volleyball rules, techniques, and strategies.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with coaching staff, parents, and school administration.

  • Passion for developing athletes and contributing to a team-oriented program.

  • Teaching certification preferred (if seeking a classroom role).

  • Current CPR/First Aid and coaching safety certification (or willingness to obtain).
