Varsity Defensive Line

Job Description

Job Summary:

The Varsity Defensive Line Coach is responsible for the development and performance of the defensive line unit within the football program. This coach will work closely with the defensive coordinator and head coach to implement the team’s defensive philosophy, teach position-specific skills, and contribute to the overall success of the football program on and off the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coach, develop, and mentor all defensive line players.

  • Teach proper technique, fundamentals, and advanced position-specific skills.

  • Assist in implementing the overall defensive scheme and game plan.

  • Conduct individual and group drills to enhance player development.

  • Break down opponent film and provide scouting reports related to OL/DL matchups.

  • Monitor academic progress and character development of student-athletes.

  • Help maintain discipline, accountability, and a positive team culture.

  • Participate in team meetings, film review sessions, and game planning.

  • Collaborate with strength and conditioning staff to ensure physical readiness.

  • Maintain and inventory defensive line equipment.

  • Attend all practices, games, coaches' meetings, and staff events.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level.

    • In-depth knowledge of defensive line techniques in both even and odd fronts.

    • Familiarity with Hudl analysis tools.

    • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

    • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse coaching staff.
