Position Description: This position is for an experienced and seasoned professional who has a passion for teaching. The successful teacher candidate must have a strong passion and heart for Lutheran ministry. The ideal candidate is a selfmotivated, hands-on, organized professional with a positive, can-do attitude. He/She must enjoy the opportunities and challenges of leading a group of high school students in a growing and evolving Christian high school. Flexibility, focus and commitment to the goals and vision of school are critical.
The candidate must be "Scripturally Grounded & Defined" and display:

As a spiritual leader at Concordia High School the teacher will:
● Promote the teaching and practice of Christ-like behavior to all of his/her students.
● Demonstrate a spirit of Christian love in communicating with co-workers, administrators, students, parents, and members of the community at large.
● Emphasize to students that they are all valued children of God, each blessed with their own unique gifts and abilities.
● Be an active member of a Christian church. Membership at an LSAGAA congregation is preferred.
As an educational leader at Concordia High School, the teacher will:
● Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible.
● Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health. ● Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
● Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
● Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
● Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
● Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.
● Assign and grade class work and homework.
● Input homework assignments and grades into RenWeb on a weekly basis.
● Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress.
● Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.
● Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress, and to determine their priorities for their children and their resource needs.
● Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, school policies, and administrative regulations.
● Prepare students for college by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks.
● Work with the STAR's Resource Department in guiding and counseling students with adjustment and/or academic challenges, or special academic interests.
● Prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines/requirements of Concordia High School.
● Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use both in learning activities.
● Enforce administration policies and rules governing students.
● Confer with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curricula.
● Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students' needs and progress.
● Use technology such as desktop and laptop computers, iPads, Document Cameras, etc. to supplement presentations and enhance the curriculum.
● Prepare for assigned classes and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisors.
● Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of high school programs.
● Prepare reports on students and activities as required by administration.
● Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials, in order to prevent injuries and damage.
● Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.
● Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities, and guide students in learning from those activities.
● Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
● Supervise, evaluate, and plan assignments for teacher assistants and volunteers.
● Perform duties such as assisting with supervision of students during the following times: 1) Before and after school, 2) During lunch, 3) At TAPPS related contests, and 4) Other school related activities.
● Lead faculty devotions as assigned by the administration.
● Select, store, order, issue, and inventory classroom equipment, materials, and supplies.
● Be willing to take on other duties/responsibilities as mutually agreed upon with the teacher and the school administration.
Education/Experience:
● Bachelor's Degree in Education with a valid teaching certificate.
o A Texas teaching certificate is preferred.
o Commissioned Minister of Religion with the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod is preferred. 2+ years of classroom experience in Lutheran schools is preferred.
Supervision:
● The teacher will report to the Head of School.

● Based on education and years of experience, Concordia High School follows the Texas District of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod's salary guidelines. We offer comprehensive benefits and meaningful service in a Christian environment that values excellence.
Terms of Employment: 12 months. Salary as per compensation schedule, Instructional level.
